Eric Perry

Eric Jason Perry died December 9, 2022, after a long illness relating to Castleman’s Disease. Eric was born in Seattle, WA on May 18, 1967. The son of Rev. William and the late Mrs. Judy Perry. Eric graduated in 1985 from the Southern Berkshire public schools in Sheffield, Massachusetts, enlisting in the US Navy in 1985 shortly after graduating high school. Eric spent the next 6 years, learning the trade of, and becoming an Electronic Technician, advancing to the grade of 2nd Class Petty Officer (E-5). Eric served aboard the USS Independence, CV-62 during the Persian Gulf War and was awarded the Navy’s Good Conduct Award; Sea Service Deployment Ribbon; Southeast Asia Service Medal; The Navy Unit Commendation Medal; and the National Defense Service Medal. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1991, he went to work in Southern California as a computer repairman.

In 1992 Eric was married to Theresa Lewis. They had 2 children together., Victoria (1993) and Christopher (1996). Eric Perry was a long-time resident of Bloomfield, New Jersey where he was a beloved and passionate baseball and basketball coach to so many. For those who were ever fortunate to be coached by Eric would know how important it was to him that everyone had fun & winning was always secondary. The moments he spent coaching were without a doubt the best times of his life. If Eric wasn’t coaching, he was playing guitar which was taught to him by his big brother, Jim.

In 2008 continuing his education, Eric earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration from AIU, and in 2010 a Bachelor of Information Technology, in Network Administration, also from AIU. Froom 1993 to 2014 Eric was employed as Asst. Manager of IT Systems at Chilton Medical Center, in Pompton Plains, NJ. In 2014, he was offered the position of District IT Supervisor of Atlantic Health System, where he remained until he was forced into retirement, due to illness from Castleman’s Disease.

In June 2021 Mr. Perry temporarily relocated to Arizona, in order to receive treatment at the Mayo Clinic and hospital in Phoenix and Scottsdale for the Castleman’s Disease. He was being treated in both Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona at the time of his death. He was an active member of the Community Christian Church in Valley Farms.

Eric was preceded in death by his mother, and one brother, Steve.

He leaves behind: His Dad, the Rev. William Perry, his :Mom” Kathryn Perry, both of Valley Farms, AZ; a daughter Victoria (Franko) and a new granddaughter Rosalie Fiore, of Wayne, NJ, a son Christopher Perry of Wayne, NJ; brothers: James (Jodie) Perry of Lake Luzerne, NY, Doug (Marry) Perry of Sheffield, MA, David Perry of IN, sisters: Annette (Larry) Iemolini of Sheffield, MA, Teri Dagruel of Sheffield, MA, Jennifer (Ronnie) Holliman of Carrollton, TX and Angela Perry of Washington, uncles, aunts, cousins and many nieces and nephews.

His Number-One desire is to see his family join him one day in Heaven.
