Abel Bandin Olivarez, 55, of Parma, Idaho, and formerly of Casa Grande, died Jan. 2, 2013, at West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, Idaho.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel in Casa Grande. Rosary will be recited there at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church by the Rev. John Arnold. Burial will be at Casa Grande Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Olivarez was born April 12, 1957, in Casa Grande to Genaro and Lucia Bandin Olivarez. He was raised and educated in Parma and Arizona, traveling back and forth with his family during the farming seasons. He met his wife, Gregoria, in Arizona, and they settled in Parma with their young family in the mid-1980s. He worked at AgriLines Irrigation in Parma for 12 years before starting his own company, Abel's Backhoe and Welding. He was a jack-of-all-trades, could do anything and always ready to help anyone.
He loved to hunt, fish and barbecue with his family and friends. He adored his grandchildren and spent as much time with them as he could.
He is survived by his wife, Gregoria "Goya"; three sons, Greg and Gilbert White, both of Parma, and Abel Olivarez Jr. of Maricopa; one sister, Otila Gonzales of Dayton, Ore.; four brothers, Genaro Jr. of Buckeye, Abe of Merced, Calif., Ben of McMinnville, Ore., and Ramiro of Casa Grande; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Jose Angel Olivarez and two infant brothers.
