Alan Richard Hanson, age 71, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, in Casa Grande, AZ. He was born the son of Ardeth Haugen and Elmer C. Hanson on Aug. 31, 1951, in Milwaukee, WI.
Al served with the US Navy during the Viet Nam War. He married Sandy (Stalter) Neely on July 20, 2002, in the back yard of their acreage near Boone, IA. They shared a common love of nature and spent a lot of time with their dogs, fishing, and camping. Al retired from John Deere at Paton, IA on Sept 23, 2021, and they became snow birds traveling to Casa Grande, AZ for the winter months. He will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to have known him.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Sandy; 2 daughters, Shantelle (Dean) Margeson of Andrew, IA and Dawn (Johnny) Brown of Southern Pines, NC; 2 sons, Rich (Candace) Hanson of Williamson,WV and Eric (Traci) Clark of Jesup, IA; 2 stepsons, Cory (Jeni) Neely of Boone, IA, and Cody (DaNeil) Neely of Boone, IA; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 2 sisters, Carol (Mickey) Latta of Mesa, AZ and Lois (Terry) Martin of Mesa, AZ; 4 brothers, Elmer (Alice) Hanson of Raymond, IA, Dale (Diana) Venne of Evansdale, IA, Rod Venne of San Francisco, CA; his twin, Art (Rhonda) Hanson of Waterloo, IA; brother in law, Kirby Stalter of Ogden, IA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer C. Hanson and Ardeth and Ron Venne; a son, Alan Richard Hanson: and a sister, Floretta Hanson.
A celebration of life will be held in the Community Center at Sunscape RV Resort, Casa Grande, AZ, on Monday, April 3, from 2 to 4 pm. A military ceremony will be held in Iowa at a later date.
