ELOY — Alfonso Soto, 77, of Eloy died on Jan. 4, 2012, at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa.
Visitation will be from 11:30 to 12:30 on Tuesday at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 12:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Virgilio Tabo. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Mr. Soto was born on Aug. 5, 1934, in the old Pinal County mining town of Sasco and was a son of Jose and Victoria Soto. He was a military veteran.
Survivors include two daughters, June Smith of Midvale, Utah, and Irene Luna of Eloy; five sons, Joe Soto of Picacho, Alfonso Soto Jr. of Sacaton, Eleazar Soto of Astoria, Ore., Hector Soto of Sacaton and Gilbert Soto of Astoria; a sister, Carmen Martinez of Florence; two brothers, Arnold Soto of Bakersfield, Calif., and Tony Soto of Tucson; 22 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita; a daughter, Mary Alice Soto; a sister, Esther Soto; and a brother, Alfredo Soto.
