Alfred Grijalva, Sr., 83, of Casa Grande passed away peacefully with family members by his side. He had a brief battle with cancer. Al was born in Safford and attended schools there before enlisting in the United States Air Force.
Al then began his career with the Department of Corrections in Ft Grant as a mechanic while attending Eastern AZ College. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from U of A and a Master’s Degree from NAU. He retired from the Dept of Corrections as a Deputy Warden.
Al loved traveling in his motorhome throughout the U.S. and Mexico and enjoyed making new friends on all his journeys. He loved to cook, listen to Mexican music, tell stories of his upbringing, and attend happy hour. He also enjoyed spending the summer seasons in Pinetop and wintertime in Rocky Point with friends and family.
He is survived by his daughter’s Genevieve Grijalva of Casa Grande and Rebecca Ellison-Grijalva of Alamogordo, New Mexico, son Alfred Grijalva, Jr. (Connie) of Casa Grande, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Al was preceded in death by his sisters, Dora and Juanita and a brother, Pete.
Al’s children would like to thank their wonderful family and friends for their prayers and support during this difficult time.
