Alfred Michael Gonzales

SELLS - Alfred Michael Gonzales, 81, of Sells died on May 26, 2020, at home, surrounded by his loved ones.

Mr. Gonzales was born on Feb. 1, 1939, in Sells to Joe and Gracia (Valencia) Gonzales. He served in the Navy from 1962 to 1964. He married Barbara Miguel on Oct. 29, 1965, in Sells and they celebrated 54 years together.

He was a musician on the acoustic bass guitar. A Catholic deacon, he formerly served at Archie Hendricks Sr. Skilled Nursing Facility and also served the community through St. Elizabeth Mission in Santa Rosa Village. He ministered to the people of the Tohono O'odham Nation for 19 years, officiating at baptisms, funerals and in other ways.

Survivors include his wife; five sons and daughters, Alfred M. Jr., Grace, Paul, Ann and Julia; a brother, Theodore; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Nyla Antone and Alexander Gonzales Sr.
