Mrs. Carter was born on April 23, 1939, in Hawthorne, Calif., and was a daughter of George A. and Josephine Rainey Seale. She married her high school sweetheart, George Gomez Jr., and they had four children. Her husband died in an airplane accident. She was a self-employed beautician before retirement, with a shop on Trekell Road for many years.
After several years she met and married veterinarian Dr. Gene D. Carter, who had a daughter, Celeste. They moved to Alaska. She came back after 11 years to take care of her parents. After their death, she became the owner of La Posada Trailer Park. After four years of commuting from Alaska, Gene rejoined her in Casa Grande. She sold the trailer park in 1989. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, shopping, soap operas, beauty and fashion, arts and crafts, and her Scottish terriers. She loved her dog Honey.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Georgianne McWhirter, Mitzi Hooper and Celeste A. Carter, all of Casa Grande; twin sons, Kirk Gomez of Phoenix and Keith Gomez of Dallas; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a “daughter” who lived with the family in Alaska, Karol Keasler, and a granddaughter, Elyssa Long
