In Loving Memory of Alicia Escoto Vidal Guanajuato

Alicia, a cherished mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, godmother, and former member of the Eloy community passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024, surrounded by her devoted family. She was born October 21, 1938, to Mercedes and Maria Vidal in Chandler, AZ. She lived and spent most of her life in Arizona. She was known for her warm heart and hardworking spirit. Alicia left an unforgettable impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was well-loved and know as “the ice cream lady” in Eloy for ten years, bringing smiles to countless faces throughout the Eloy community. She was also a dedicated school cafeteria worker for 27 years, where she shared her passion for cooking to nourish and care for students.

Her passion and talent for cooking was legendary, especially her famous tamales which became a family tradition and symbol of her love. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, especially her daughter Gloria, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who were the light of her life.

Her legacy of love, kindness, and passion for cooking will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Alicia is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesus Guanajuato; her sons Daniel Guanajuato, and Gilber Guanajuato; her parents, Mercedes and Maria Vidal; and eight siblings.

She is survived by her loving family, including her daughter, Gloris (Raul) Ponce, and her son, Hector (Melisa) Guanajuato, both of Casa Grande, AZ. She also leaves behind her cherished ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her legacy and love in their hearts.

Service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at the St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church in Eloy, AZ. The rosary will start at 9:30am and a mass at 10am with a burial to follow at Eloy Memorial Park. A “Celebration of Life” will be held at St. Helen of the Cross Parish Hall in Eloy, AZ from 1:00-6:00 pm for family and friends to attend.
