Alonzo Edwin Apkaw, age 52, of Sacaton, Arizona, passed away on December 17, 2024. He was born on January 5, 1972, in Sacaton to Edwin Apkaw and Ophelia Moffett.
Alonzo was known for his love of music and dancing, and throughout his youth, he demonstrated remarkable athleticism, excelling in various sports. He was a dedicated hard worker and cherished his family, particularly his grandchildren. Alonzo was a welcoming presence who enjoyed the company of others; his home was always open, and he treated all who entered as family. His outspoken nature was complemented by a deep sense of love and care for those around him.
He is survived by his children: Aliyah Lopez, Alicea Apkaw, Alijah Apkaw, Dalen Juan Sr., DeAnna Juan, Delayna Miller, Deanna Jackson, Alonzo Cruz, Johnathan Crus, Alonda Cruz, and Jaelyn Cruz; his siblings: Edwina Apkaw, Albert Cruz Jr., and Ayla Cruz; his significant other, Jeanette Soto and 14 grandchildren, with two more on the way.
Alonzo is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Alicen Apkaw, and his brother Fabian Moffett.
His legacy will be remembered through the love he shared and the lives he touched.
A wake will be held Friday, December 27, starting at 5pm at the District Four Multipurpose Building in Santan, mass the following morning, 8am at Saint Anne's Catholic Mission in Santan and burial to follow in Saint Anne's Catholic Cemetery.
