Alvenita Pauline Garcia

CHUICHU VILLAGE - Alvenita Pauline Garcia, 87, of Chuichu died on July 1, 2020, at home.

Mrs. Garcia was born on Dec. 6, 1932, in Ak-Chin Village, Tohono O'odham Nation, to Martin and Marie (Orosco) Celaya. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed sewing, making dresses for her daughters in their younger years and creating many quilts as the family grew.

She was known for the wreaths she made for All Souls Day and loved cooking, especially for the holidays. Her home was always open to those she knew and strangers passing by who needed a good meal. She would feed whomever she could, whether she knew them or not.

Survivors include six daughters and sons, Flora Chewing, Brenda, Jolene, Gloria, Martin and Wayne Garcia; three siblings, Ofelia Lopez, Lillian Manuel and Irene Jose; 25 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A.; two infant girls; a daughter, Maria; three sons, Joseph, Richard and Alton Garcia; and three siblings, Dorothy Celaya, Delphina Felix and Jon Celaya.

Burial at Menagers Dam Cemetery.
