SANTAN - Alvin Franklin Cooper, 57, of Santan died on Sept. 22, 2017, at home.
Mr. Cooper was born on Aug. 17, 1960, to Frankenburg C. and Leona E. Eldridge Cooper in Phoenix. His hobby was tinkering around the house. He enjoyed working on cars, carpentry, planting and trimming trees in the yard and making repairs in the house - anything that kept his hands busy while making a difference.
He was also very creative and enjoyed drawing cartoons for the kids and creating Native artwork. He received a bachelor's degree in project management and associate degree in computer drafting and design from ITT Technical Institute.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa; two daughters, Natasha and Ashley Cooper; a son, Jeremy Cooper; four sisters, Micheala Cooper, Michelle Osife, Evelyn Gopher and Aileen Vavages; a brother, Derwin Cooper; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Michael Cooper, Kerwin Cooper, Devin Vavages and Lemuel Thompson; and three sisters, Luanne Thompson, Doreen Allen and Berleen Thompson.
Wake from 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, Sept. 29, at the District 4 Service Center. Traditional cremation at 4 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, in North Upper Santan Cemetery.
