PICACHO — Amalia R. "Mollie" Zapata, 75, of Picacho died on July 19, 2012.
Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church in Eloy. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by the Rev. Juan Carlos Aguirre. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Ms. Zapata was born on July 4, 1937, in Gilbert. She was a bar and restaurant manager and was an exceptional mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed spending time with, talking and listening to her family. She had a great sense of humor, loved animals and was a devout Catholic. She enjoyed going on nature walks, quilting, reading, listening to all music and watching sports. She was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan.
Survivors include six daughters, Catherine A. Amaral of Red Rock, Lydia Z. Zapata of Arizona City, Rachel E. Zapata of Picacho, Laura S. and Michelle R. Zapata of Casa Grande and Victoria E. Quintero of Picacho; two sons, George J. Zapata Jr. of Picacho and Gabriel J. "Scott" Zapata of Mesa; a sister, Alice Martan of Picacho; 32 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Manuel R. and Louis R. Ruiz; a daughter, Maria Louise Robles; two sons, Zachary S. Zapata and Manuel R. Robles; and two grandsons, Gabriel J. Longoria and Estevan Zapata.
