ARIZONA CITY — Andrew Jimmie Anderson Jr., 80, of Arizona City died on July 23, 2010, at Hospice Family Care in Casa Grande.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church by the Rev. Kevin Clinch.
Mr. Anderson was born on Dec. 5, 1929, in Bruce, Miss., and was a son of Josie L. and Andrew J. Anderson Sr. He attended high school in Greenwood, Miss., and served in the Army from 1948 to 1952, including the Korean War. He attended Mississippi Valley State College and earned an associate degree. He drove a city bus in Detroit for 15 years before working as a Michigan state auditor, retiring after 30 years of service. His favorite hobby was shopping for sales.
Survivors include his wife, June E.; three sons, Lawrence Anderson of Memphis, Creston and Joseph Gray of Detroit; three daughters, Beverly Sullivan of Greenwood, Miss., Jacquelyn Miller of Cleveland and Pamela Gray of Houston; a sister, Helen Anderson of Belleville, Mich.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Rowland Anderson, and two sisters, Dorothy M. Anthony and Sue Doolittle.
