FLORENCE - Andrew Edward "Andy" Lopez, 88, of Florence died on Nov. 11, 2017, at home.
Mr. Lopez was born on Nov. 8, 1929, in Florence to Miguel and Rosalia (Jose) Lopez. A very private man, he graduated from Coolidge High School in 1949 in a class of 41. He attended college for a year, then joined the Air Force and served from 1951 to 1955. He was stationed at RAF Burtonwood, England, and Paine AFB, Washington.
He later enrolled at Woodbury's Business College and received a bachelor's degree in business administration. In 1971 he took the Dale Carnegie Course in Effective Speaking and Human Relations and earned a certificate. He was a bookkeeper for Kelly Services. His hobbies were collecting coins and taking pictures of his cats.
He is survived by nieces, nephews, grandnieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Anita (Lopez) Antone, Lillian and Agnes Lopez, and three brothers, Gilman, Leonard and Anthony Lopez.
Wake beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Mission in Florence Tohono O'odham Village. Funeral Mass celebrated at 6 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18. Burial in Florence Cemetery.
