Angelita Rivera

PHOENIX — Angelita Rivera, 87, died on Sept. 25, 2023, in Phoenix.

Mrs. Rivera was born on Jan. 19, 1936, in Robstown, Texas, and was a daughter of Juvencio and Manuela Nava. She had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening, especially planting trees and roses. 

She also enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, playing bingo, dancing, listening to music, watching novelas and visiting casinos.

Survivors include her husband, Juan G.; 12 sons and daughters, Gabriel Rivera of Merced, California, Maria Angelita Ramos of Phoenix, Ana Maria Garcia of National City, California, Lidia C. Chavez and Olga Peña of Merced, Frank Rivera of Buckeye, Jesus Rivera of Phoenix, Rosemary Nava of Merced, Maria Elena Rivera of Phoenix, Lucia and Lucio Rivera of Merced and Lorenza Lara of San Jose, California; two siblings, Gilberto Nava of Tiffin, Ohio, and Maria Inez Cardenas of Palmdale, California; grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by children Juan G. Rivera Jr. and Ruben M. Rivera and siblings Serapio, Julian, Gabriel and Felix Nava and Josephina Gomez.

Public visitation will be held at J Warren Gardens Chapel in Casa Grande, AZ on Monday 10/9 starting at 3 PM. Funeral Service will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church Tuesday 10/10 starting at 8:30 AM. Burial will follow service at Mt. View Cemetery in Casa Grande, AZ.
