Anne Laura Garcia, age 67, of Sacaton Flats, peacefully passed away on December 29, 2023. She was born on February 17, 1956, in Sacaton to loving parents Elwood and Helen Myron.
Anne dedicated her life to education and had a fulfilling career as a head start teacher for the Gila River Indian Community for an impressive span of 30 years. The children she taught became more than just students to her; they became family. As they grew up, Anne continued to nurture their minds and hearts by teaching their own children as well. Her dedication to the community extended beyond the classroom as she served as a board member of the Blackwater Day School.
Outside of her professional life, Anne found joy in connecting with others. She cherished spending time with the elders in her community and appreciated their wisdom. Music held a special place in her heart, and she enjoyed its melodies as it brought comfort and happiness into her life. In addition, Anne had a green thumb and flourished in the art of gardening. Exploring her creative side, she also pursued arts and crafts that allowed her imagination to soar.
Anne's greatest love was for her grandchildren whom she adored dearly; their presence brought immense joy into her life. Above all else, spending quality time with family held a special significance for Anne.
Anne leaves behind cherished memories to be treasured by her loved ones. She is survived by her daughter Erlynn Hermosillo, son Kendall Myron, dear companion Anthony Stevens, her 1st granddaughter and three grandsons.
