Anthony Ray Sweed

August 9, 1986 — March 3, 2020

Anthony Ray Sweed was born on August 9,1986 and passed on March 3, 2020. Anthony’s parents are Marilla Sweed and Leonard Clark.

Anthony is survived by seven children. Four sons who are Ezra Joshua Andrews, Kaizen Wager, Diyami Sweed, Matthew Sweed, and Zuriel Stephen Sweed
Two daughters who are Ayasha Wager and Zylie Olivia Sweed.
His sisters Breanna Tallabas and Angelica Tallabas, one brother Christobal Tallabas. His Grandmother Alfreda Sweed.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Ben Sweed.

After graduating from Cesar Chavez High School Anthony worked as a lifeguard at the District 6 service center. He loved to help people and this love for public service drew him into the Fire Service. He begin his career as a Firefighter for Gila River Fire Department at a very young age. One of his greatest accomplishments was graduating from the Fire Academy. But this wasn’t enough for Anthony; he needed more, so he attended Mesa Community College where he obtained an Associate’s degree in Fire Science. Anthony served the Gila River Indian Community with dignity, honor, and compassion as a Firefighter for 13 years with the Gila River Fire Department. His self less service and courage will forever be in our hearts.

Anthony’s talents were mentoring, making others laugh, break-dancing, beading, traditional drumming,cooking, mountain biking, athleticism and fitness, bodybuilding, photography, sound mixing, and singing. He was a compassionate, caring person who always put others first. Especially his wife, Randi. You would see him carrying her purse.


There are great love stories in history. Randi and Anthony’s love for one another is the greatest of all that will go down in history. Anthony made sure by posting on Facebook, making recordings for them, and taking pictures with his camera. He let the world know he Loved his wife and kids.
There is no denying that Anthony’s life was his wife, his children, and the Fire Service. He loved his family with all his heart, body and soul.

We are going to miss Anthony so very much. He is always in our hearts and thoughts. We are blessed to have had him in our lives.

A wake will be held Wednesday March 11 from 6-10pm at the District #4 Service Center. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday March 12, 8am at the SanTan Day School Cemetery with burial to follow.
