Arnoldo Jaime Martinez, 80, passed away peacefully May 25, 2020 at his home with family at his side. Arnoldo "Nono" was born in Ajo, AZ on December 13, 1939 and spent most of life as a mechanic. Nono worked for Phelps Dodge Corp. in Ajo for many years before moving to Tempe, AZ in 1979, where he worked as an auto mechanic until his retirement in 2005. Nono was a lifelong NASCAR fan (who many knew as a die-hard Ford man), ASU fan, and later in life, became an Arizona Cardinals and Diamondbacks fan.
Nono was preceded in death by his parents Margarito and Maria Martinez, his sister Edith Westphal, and brothers Benjamin, Gilbert "Beto", Hector, Roland, Horacio, and Harold "Rudy" Martinez.
Nono is survived by his loving wife Mary Frances (Nicholson) Martinez and his three children Arnoldo Martinez Jr (wife Yvette), Daniel Martinez (wife Beth), and Jeanette Hofeling (Husband Rodney), 10 grandchildren, and 12 grandchildren (two more on the way), many of which were at his side during his final days. Also surviving Nono are his beloved sisters Judith "Gerry" Marentes and Virginia "Ginny" Thomas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services are scheduled for Friday June 5, 12pm at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Maricopa, with Interment at Ajo Cemetery on June 6 (TBD time).
