Arthur A. “Art” Johnson, 75, died on May 28, 2013, in Casa Grande. He was diagnosed with cancer in mid-April and died less than six weeks later.
Mr. Johnson, also known as Artie, was born in Oakland, Calif., on May 8, 1938. He retired to Casa Grande in 1997 from Tahoe City, Calif. He loved to play golf, read about golf, watch golf (on TV) and was great fun to be around and loved by all who knew him. He was known for giving the “Artie look.”
He served in the Army and was a Mason and Shriner. During parts of his life he owned and operated a service station and a restaurant/bar. He also worked in the construction field.
He is survived by his wife, Duane; a daughter and son, Rachel Johnson of Sparks, Nev., and Jeffrey Johnson of Oakland; and a sister, Nancy Wells of Prineville, Ore.
