FLORENCE — Arthur Y. Robles, 92, a Florence resident and native, died on March 31, 2011.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Assumption Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 7. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 10 a.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Charles Cloud. Burial will be in Florence Cemetery.
Mr. Robles was born on Jan. 5, 1919, to a pioneer family. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the Military Police. He later was a state corrections officer, a horseback guard and tracker. He was a longtime rancher and roper as well.
He had extensive knowledge of Florence history, its residents and businesses. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was very devoted to them.
Survivors include four daughters, Gerrie Laughlin of Angel Fire, N.M., Dolores McDonald of Tucson, Elizabeth R. Robles of Valley Farms and Deon Parrish of Florence; a son, Arthur E. Robles of Florence; a brother, Roy Robles of Blythe, Calif.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betina.
