Asanti Armand Stokes, 7, of Tucson died May 1, 2009 at Tucson Medical Center.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Eloy. The funeral will follow at 11. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Asanti was born Sept. 11, 2001. He was a first-grade student at Davidson Elementary School in Tucson and loved school and all sports, especially basketball. He loved to dance and was known for his humor and personality. He loved his family and everyone.
Survivors include his parents, Tequila R. Johnson of Tucson and Shawn Stokes of Phoenix; four brothers, Dazhon Eaton of Tucson, Shawn Stokes Jr., Devonte and Sargeant Stokes, all of Phoenix; four sisters, Janayzha Sumpter of Tucson, Latysha, Billy and Jaqueline Stokes, all of Phoenix; and grandparents, Annette Sweat of Tucson and Johnny Johnson of Phoenix. He was preceded in death by grandparents Ted and Billy Stokes and great-grandparents Virginia and Bishop Sweat Jr. and Edward Johnson.
