Audrey Carole Peart Crabtree

CASA GRANDE - Audrey Carole Peart Crabtree, 83, died on May 29, 2016, in Alta Loma, California.

Mrs. Crabtree was born on Sept. 11, 1932, to Daniel and Garnita Peart in Casa Grande. Part of a pioneer family, she was a granddaughter of Thomas and Charlotte Peart and Albert and Katherine Freeman. She grew up in Casa Grande and went to Arizona State College (now University), where she graduated with a degree in education. She married her high school sweetheart, Sidney J. Crabtree, in 1954. Together they enjoyed his career in the Army as they were stationed across the United States and Europe.

She was devoted to her family and friends and was a humanitarian. Gardening, reading, traveling, serving the community and spending time with her family and friends made for a happy and fulfilling life for her, and she worked on many philanthropic projects. During her husband’s career, she was a member of the Officers’ Wives’ Club, in which she served in many positions, including president. She was a teacher who loved reading and appreciated the importance of education. She especially had a heart for improving the lives and education of children and their families.

The Assistance League of Pomona Valley and its members were very dear to her. She and Sid were founding members of Northkirk Presbyterian Church in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Her church life was very important to her, and she served as a deacon and elder.

She is survived by a daughter and two sons, Leslie Wallace of Burke, Virginia, Paul Crabtree of Tahoe City, California, and Phillip Crabtree of Tigard, Oregon; a sister and brother, Danna Robson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Don Peart of Pomona, California; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother and sister, Ken Peart and Sharon Fowles.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Mountain View Chapel, near Mountain View Cemetery.
