Barbara DeWeese (95) of Arizona City died April 6, 2023 at The Garnett at Casa Grande. She had resided in the community since 1991. A memorial service was held on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 11:00 am at J. Warren Funeral Services Cole & Maud Gardens Chapel, with Ms. Aurora Corriero officiating. Internment took place immediately following the memorial service at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in Coolidge, Arizona.
Mrs. DeWeese was born January 9, 1928 in Orange, New Jersey to Howard and Esther (Terrell) Pidgeon. In 1943 the family moved to Oxford, Ohio, where she attended McGuffey High School. Attending Miami University, Oxford, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. At Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, she received a Master of Arts degree. She was a certified Speech and Language Pathologist and provided therapy services in both Ohio and Arizona.
Upon moving to Arizona from Ohio in 1975, Mrs. DeWeese served as a speech/language pathologist in some Pinal County schools. In 1980 Mrs. DeWeese and husband, Richard, moved to Kingman, Arizona, where she was employed by the Kingman Elementary School District. Following retirement in 1989, both she and her husband returned to Pinal County.
Prior to retirement, Mrs. DeWeese was a member of her professional organizations and very active particularly in Ohio. Speech and Language Therapy was her only vocation, and she enjoyed it very much. Among other interests were volunteering at the Sunland Visitors Center and earlier at the local library when able.
Survivors include a niece, Stephanie, of Topeka, Kansas. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard, a younger sister, Pauline Spanabel and an older sister, Virginia Pidgeon.
