Barney Ross White, 65, of Casa Grande, who was active in aiding and supporting military veterans, died Jan. 26, 2009 at home.
A celebration of life will begin at noon Saturday at Casa Grande Valley Elks Lodge, with Andy Sanders officiating. Burial with naval honors will be in National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road in Phoenix, at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Mr. White was born in Cheyenne, Wyo., and was a son of Harry Curtis and Vivian J. White. He had a career in the Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He later was a state veterans employment counselor for Pinal County. He assisted veterans and their families in obtaining benefits from the U.S. Veterans Affairs Department.
He was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, was in the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1677, American Legion Post 8 and Elks Lodge 1957. He was active on the Casa Grande Veterans Day Parade Committee.
Survivors include three daughters, Jaime White of Mesa, Kelli Jackson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Angela White of Boston; three sons, Shane White of Boulder, Colo., Harold White of Jacksonville and Glen White of Aurora, Colo.; a sister, Mary Kay Nakano of Washington state; a brother, Todd Curtis of California; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
