CASA GRANDE - Betty J. Starr Watson-Roberts, 77, of Casa Grande died on Jan. 3, 2016, at Lita Caring Home.
The memorial service will be held later.
Ms. Watson-Roberts was born on Aug. 30, 1938, in Independence, Kansas, and was a daughter of Lawrence Starr Sr. and Jewell Woods. She was a homemaker and also worked in various occupations, including bulldozer operator, cabinet maker, nurse, rancher, waitress, restaurant owner, meter operator, private investigator, horse trainer and singer.
She enjoyed rodeoing and showing horses and was the first woman to become a sergeant with the Arizona Rangers organization. She enjoyed everything about horses, from regular care to riding in the Rose Bowl Parade. Her true passions in life were horses and Jesus. She was very friendly.
Survivors include a daughter, SherryLynn Davis of Casa Grande; three sons, Thomas A. and Richard L. Watson of Show Low and Michael E. Watson of Maricopa; two sisters, Eunice Starr of Show Low and Kay Starr of Nuevo, California; two brothers, Lawrence Starr Jr. of Laughlin, Nevada, and Wesley Starr of Maricopa; 15 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas F. Watson; a sister, Carolyn Joseph; and two grandsons, Cody and Trevor Watson.
