Billie H. Wilson, 83, a retired teacher and longtime Casa Grande resident, died on Nov. 18, 2012, at Family Tree Assisted Living, with her family by her side.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church of Casa Grande. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson was born on March 9, 1929, in Prescott and was a daughter of George A. Hutchins and Arah S. Sterling. She graduated from Casa Grande Union High School and was attending what is now Arizona State University when she married her high school sweetheart, C. Jay Wilson. She put her education on hold while raising a family but returned to ASU in 1967. She obtained a degree to become a teacher, later earned a master's degree and also took classes at Central Arizona College.
She worked at First Federal Savings & Loan and was a teacher in the Casa Grande Elementary School District for 25 years, retiring in 1993. She was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha and Casa Grande Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and was involved with 4-H. She loved history, reading and children and researched the Wilson and Hutchins family history. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis Wilson of Mesa, Robert A. Wilson of Shawnee, Kan., and Kent Wilson of Casa Grande; a sister, Vicki Cooney of Phoenix; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years and a brother, Tracy Hutchins.
