Billy Dean "Poppy" Bridwell

Billy was born in Carlsbad, NM to Bill and Delora Bridwell, now of Scottsdale.
Bill's favorite thing in his life was his family, and between his wife, Marilyn Bridwell, who preceded him in death, and former wife Nancy Rennert, he was blessed with 8 children and 10 grandchildren. His children are Mike, Misty, James (wife Jessica), Mitch (wife Kim), Mindi (husband Bryan), Billy III (wife Christy), Bradley (wife Ashley), and Shawna (husband Jim). Grandchildren are Megan, Troy, Rome, Cyann, Jade, Jerzy, Billy IV, Christopher, Nathan and
Cooper.
Bill was a proud graduate of Arizona State University where he received his BA in 1974. He also received an MBA from the University of Phoenix in 2007. He was proud of his family’s many accomplishments and was particularly fond of his father’s many contributions to our nation’s space program. He worked his way through college in the family business in Scottsdale, later owning his own Texaco station. Subsequently, he left that business and entered real estate when he and
Marilyn moved to Casa Grande. His business enterprise, Golden Touch Realty and Development, has been a Casa Grande fixture ever since.
Billy strongly believed that one should be active in the life of one’s community. While in Scottsdale, he became the youngest President of the Scottsdale JC’s, was Past Parada Boss of the Parada Del Sol Rodeo in Scottsdale and Top Hand of the Scottsdale JC’s. Bill’s service to Casa Grande is long and distinguished, and many have benefited because of his service: Against Abuse, Boys and Girl’s Clubs, Hospice Charitable Fund, Seeds of Hope, and the Kiwanis Club of Casa Grande. He was also on the city’s Planning and Zoning Committee. Bill was a mover and shaker locally
and within the state for the Republican Party. Indeed, he was the first person from Pinal County to serve on the Executive Board of the State Party, the first Republican to run for County Supervisor, and was a Charter Member and Past President of the Western Pinal Republican Club. He
was noted for his generosity to causes and individuals. His personal love for his community and his spirit of enthusiasm for its welfare were legendary.

Bill is survived by his parents and two brothers, Lane and Terry, also of Scottsdale. Bill's brother Lloyd preceded him in death.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31st at the United Methodist Church
on Trekell Rd. in Casa Grande, where Bill and Marilyn were married 30 years ago.
A reception will follow at the home of Bill and Marilyn in Casa Grande. Services will be led by his nephew, Pastor Buc Bridwell of Seattle, and Cowboy Preacher, father Bill Sr. of Scottsdale.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for memorial contributions in his name to be made to any of his
favorite charities: Against Abuse, The Valley Humane Society, Seeds of Hope, and both Boys and Girls Clubs of Casa Grande and Scottsdale.
