ELOY - Blanca "Blanche" Chávez, 84, died on Feb. 24, 2018, at Hospice of the Valley in Chandler.
Ms. Chávez was born on May 19, 1933, in Nogales, Arizona, and was a daughter of Conrado Macazan and Ysabel Tapia. She later had a stepfather, Francisco Mendoza Sr. She enjoyed going to casinos, watching her novellas on TV and spending time with family.
She was a diehard Arizona Cardinals and Phoenix Suns fan and also an avid Santa Cruz Dust Devils fan. She loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. She was a constant encourager.
Survivors include three daughters, Julie Romero of Arizona City, Sofia Chávez and Mary Helen Chávez Iba�ez of Eloy; four sisters, Socorro Ramirez, Frances Perea and Gloria Figueroa, all of Coolidge, and Susie Lynch of Arizona City; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Meregildo Chávez Jr. and Arturo Chávez Sr.; four brothers, Manuel, Julian, Francisco Jr. and Gilberto; and two sisters, Lydia and Artemisa "Michelle."
Visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 9, at St. Helen of the Cross Catholic Church, with funeral Mass celebrated at 10:30. Burial in Eloy Memorial Park.
