COOLIDGE - Bob E. Mayo, 74, died on April 4, 2017, in Coolidge, surrounded by his loved ones.
Mr. Mayo was born in Whitewright, Texas, to Ernest and Hazel Mayo. He grew up with two sisters who meant the world to him. He spent his life in Coolidge, always giving of himself to loved ones and those who needed him. He graduated from Coolidge High School and attended the University of Arizona to study civil engineering and participated in Air Force ROTC.
He worked for years as a civil engineer for the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs and helped survey many highways. He later was a public safety officer for Coolidge, serving as a police officer, firefighter and EMT. He also was a Little League coach, a deacon and mentor for many. He married Vicki Earl of Coolidge on Oct. 14, 1967, and was the proud father of Tom, Jonathan, Ginger and Matthew. He was devoted to his family.
Other survivors include two sisters, Edith Pogue and Shirley Appel; five grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
Memorial service at 11 a.m. Monday, April 17, at First Baptist Church.
