FLORENCE - Bonnie G. Bean, 71, formerly of Florence, died at her Tucson home on Aug. 9, 2013.
The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 24 at First Presbyterian Church in Florence.
Mrs. Bean, the oldest of seven children born to Billy and Isabel Ferguson in West Virginia’s coal country, came to Arizona in 1973. She was active in the community as president and CEO of K-Bean TV and Production and president and CEO of the Florence Chamber of Commerce. She was named Woman of the Year by the Florence chamber in 2000 and Rotarian of the Year in 2001 by the Florence Rotary Club.
She considered herself to be a "professional volunteer," having served as president of the Pinal County Historical Society, Florence Rotary Club, the Florence senior citizens group (at age 42) and chair of the Florence Junior Parada and Founders Day celebrations. She continued her tradition of community service throughout her later years as a dedicated hospice volunteer.
Preceded in death by her husband, Pinal County Presiding Judge Robert R. "Bob" Bean, she is survived by two sons and a daughter, Mark Mills of Liberal, Kan., John Mills of Florence and Michele McNeely of Marana; six brothers and sisters; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Arizona.
