Bonnifacio Orlando "Lonnie" Garcia, 52, of Casa Grande died on Nov. 4, 2012, in Las Vegas, Nev., while doing what he loved at the race track.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud The Gardens Chapel. The memorial service will follow at 7.
Mr. Garcia was born on Sept. 27, 1960, in Embudo, N.M. He graduated from Casa Grande Union High School in 1979. While there he played football and basketball and was president of the Industrial Arts Student Association. He took automotive classes.
He owned Casa Grande Tune & Lube and was involved with car shows and car clubs. He was involved in Division 7 drag racing for 21 years and was in Super Street Class. He was on Team Firebird with car 799G. In 1998 he won the Race of Champions in his division. He also won a Wally and was Driver of the Year in 1998.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Rochelle D.; two daughters, Denise R. Garcia of Spokane, Wash., and Diane L. Garcia of Tempe; a son, David J. Garcia of Ahwatukee; three brothers, Dale, Dion and Duane Garcia, all of Casa Grande; and a grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Garcia and Orlinda Duran.
