Brenda Oleta Scott Kyyitan, 79, of Casa Blanca passed away peacefully at home on October 2, 2024. She was born February 13,1945 in Sacaton, AZ, to McDonald Scott and Sara Ahliel.
She attended Phoenix Indian school where she graduated in 1965. After she had graduated, she attended nursing school in Berkeley California, where she obtained her RN degree. While in California she also worked as a surgical assistant.
After returning to Gila River Indian Community, she began her teaching career. She was a culture teacher at Casa Blanca Day School and Gila Crossing Community School. She then retired from Santa Rosa Boarding School.
Brenda sat on many community boards. She was a representative for the Council of Elders, CTERC, ALCOA. As well as being a member on other boards throughout Gila River Indian Community.
Brenda is survived by her dog Alex – whom she loved dearly. Her stepdaughter Darlene Molina who took care of her during the last month of her life and survived by her 5 stepchildren and many foster children, her significant other, Daniel Williams, her 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces, and nephews also her 4 siblings.
A viewing will be held, Friday, October 11th, 2:00-8:00pm at District Five Multipurpose Building in Casa Blanca.
