BAPCHULE - Bruce John Burnette, 68, died on June 28, 2017, in Gilbert.

Mr. Burnette was born on March 30, 1949, in Bapchule to Steven Burnette Sr. and Edna Brown. He served in the Marine Corps for four years and received a number of decorations and awards, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Rifle Expert Badge and a letter of appreciation.

He played with the Pima Express band for 35 years and was its original rhythm guitarist and a backup vocalist. The band won some honors, including one for best album in 2003. He loved cooking, baking and travel.

Survivors include his fiancee, Armida "Midge" Molina; two sons, Robert and Alexander Burnette; two daughters, Brittany and Carly Burnette; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Steven Burnette Jr.

Wake from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 7, at the District 5 Multipurpose Building. Funeral Mass celebrated at 6 a.m. Saturday, July 8, at St. Peter Catholic Church by Monsignor Ed Meulemans. Burial in Snaketown Cemetery.
