CASA GRANDE - Bryan Proctor Dowdle, 73, of Casa Grande died at home on March 27, 2017.
Mr. Dowdle was born in Winslow on April 4, 1943. He was a third-generation Arizona native and the second son of Frank and Frances Dowdle. He lived in Winslow until age 6, when his family moved to Coolidge in 1950. He was a member of First Baptist Church, was active in Boy Scouts and was a Little League All-Star. He left high school early to enlist in the Army, where he was trained and worked as a heavy equipment mechanic, serving at Fort Lewis, Washington, and six months in Germany.
After receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to Coolidge and re-enrolled in high school, graduating in 1964. He attended Arizona Western College in Yuma for a year and later worked in the mining industry as a diesel mechanic in Arizona and California for many years. He returned to Arizona, where he worked as a mechanic for Red River Land & Cattle Company and later for Maricopa-Stanfield Irrigation and Drainage District. He loved his family very much and was devoted to them.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; a daughter, Alyson Bell of Casa Grande; two brothers, Steven Dowdle of Tucson and Bill Dowdle of Peoria; and three grandchildren.
