FLORENCE — The Rev. Bryan W. Sherry, 74, of Florence, a retired Roman Catholic priest, died on Jan. 23, 2011, at Banner Gateway Medical Center in Gilbert after a long illness.
Visitation and vigil will begin at 6 p.m. Monday at Assumption Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 8. Funeral Mass will be celebrated there at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday by Bishop Gerald Kicanas. Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Mesa.
The Rev. Sherry was born on Feb. 5, 1936, in Bridgeport, Conn., and was a son of William B. and Florence M. Sherry. He attended St. Thomas Minor Seminary in Bloomfield, Conn., St. Mary’s Major Seminary in Baltimore and Christ the King Seminary in St. Bonaventure, N.Y. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Tucson in 1962 and served for 48 years in Phoenix, Glendale, Globe, Tucson, Mesa, Casa Grande, Safford, Hayden and Florence.
He is survived by 10 cousins, Sister Nancy Malone of New Rochelle, N.Y., Barbara Coe of Black Rock, Conn., Robert Mullaney of Huntington, Conn., Julie Forester of Oxford, Conn., Edmond Mullaney of Hollister, Mo., Dolores Nermann of Peoria, Ariz., Joan Graham of Wantagh, N.Y., Ernest Everett of Palm Springs, Calif., Robert Maraffi of Litchfield Park and Jack Maraffi of Riverdale, N.Y.
J. Warren Funeral Services, Cole & Maud Coolidge Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
