Carl Ray Smith

Carl Ray Smith, 82, of Casa Grande died on June 26, 2014, at Oasis Pavilion Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. July 19 at Trinity Southern Baptist Church.

Mr. Smith was born on Feb. 25, 1932, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, and was a son of Brank and Ethel Smith. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a hoist operator for Phelps Dodge Corporation before retiring. He also worked at the Arizona Training Program at Coolidge. He loved his family and liked to fish, hunt, camp and travel.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Joyce; two daughters, Vanessa Canez of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Katheriene Smith-Yutzler of Casa Grande; a son, Michael Smith of Salt Lake City; a sister, Betty Thomas of Chicago; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Smith; five brothers, Robert, Cecil, William, John and Benny Smith; and a sister, Wanda Reed.
