BLACKWATER - Carmelita Kisto Marrietta, 74, died on Feb. 9, 2016, at Florence Hospital at Anthem.
Mrs. Marrietta was born on Nov. 11, 1941, in Sacaton and was a daughter of Grace and Isaac Kisto Sr. She was a homemaker and a Pima basketweaver whose work is displayed around the Gila River Indian Community. She was devoted to her family and especially her grandchildren and was active in her church. She liked to watch "Mike & Molly" on TV and listen to chicken scratch music.
Survivors include her husband, Jasper Marrietta Sr.; two daughters, Connie Blackwater-Hogg and Mary Frances Jasper of Blackwater; a brother, Harry Kisto Sr. of Sacaton; two sisters, Lorraine Manuel of Sacaton and Jenny Jose of Blackwater; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Blackwater Jr.; two brothers, Larry and Isaac Kisto Jr.; and three sisters, Eleanor Jackson, Rose Manuel and Lenora Kisto.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at the District 1 Multipurpose Building, with rosary recited at 6. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 8 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Mission. Burial will be in Blackwater West Cemetery.
