SACATON - Caroline Joyce Terry, 57, of Chandler died on June 15, 2015, at Caring House in Sacaton.
Ms. Terry will lie in state beginning at 3 p.m. Friday at the Gila River Governance Center. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. at the District 3 Service Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 7 a.m. Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Mission in Upper Santan by the Rev. Gregory Rice. Burial will be in St. Anne Catholic Cemetery.
Ms. Terry was born on Aug. 3, 1957, in Sacaton. She was crowned Miss Gila River in 1976 and served as an ambassador for her community. She was a law enforcement dispatcher for 35 years, first for 25 years with the Gila River Police Department and then 10 years with the Salt River Police Department. She enjoyed her job, and her coworkers were like her second family.
Her hobbies were painting, gardening and listening to gospel music. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Romo Lewis Sr.; seven daughters, Fawn, Heather and Neva Terry, all of Sacaton, Amy and Amanda Hendricks, Randi and Tori Lewis, all of Chandler; a son, Bryan Hendricks of Chandler; two sisters, Mary Stephens of Santan and Olga Terry of Sacaton; two brothers, Lee and Leonard Terry of Sacaton; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil L. and Shirley Lopez Terry.
