Carolyn Rae Loughmiller, 77, of Casa Grande/Show Low, Arizona passed on to be with her Lordand Savior Jesus on Thursday, March 15, 2018, in
Scottsdale, Arizona. Carolyn was born in Herrin, Illinois on March 12, 1941. She was the daughter of Ray and Junia Lauder Bailey.
Carolyn was a devout Christian who loved Jesus, God and her church.
She was proud to have the opportunity to be re-baptized in the Jordan River, where her Savior was also baptized. She was not afraid to die and knew she would return home to her God and Creator.
Carolyn graduated from Carterville High School and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at SIU-Carbondale. She was employed as a teacher and taught at Withrow and Feitchans Elementary Schools until she retired. She attended Southside Christian Church in Springfield, Illinois.
Carolyn was an avid Diamondbacks fan. She loved Illini football and basketball. Carolyn loved to travel around the world. She enjoyed Bill Gaither cruises with her husband, Ed, listening to Christian music on board. Carolyn was an accomplished pianist who enjoyed playing for her churches and for her own enjoyment. She loved to play cards, bingo, and made crafts to create memories for her friends and family to cherish forever. She was a staunch Republican and liked to watch Fox News. Her family enjoyed her wonderful cooking and she loved to host dinners at her campground home in Casa Grande. Carolyn never met a stranger. She had an infectious laugh and loved to have adventures with her friends. No matter where she went, her joyful personality filled the room. Carolyn’s family was of the utmost importance to her. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary or special occasion.
Carolyn is preceded in death by sister, Elizabeth Wingo and parents.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Ed; children, Michelle (husband Alan) Baker of Auburn, Illinois, Garrett Groves of Wood River, Illinois, Brian (wife Donna) Loughmiller of McKinney, Texas, Eric (wife Dee) Loughmiller of Naperville, Illinois, Mark (wife Kelly) Loughmiller of Arcata, California and Ross Loughmiller; grandchildren, Blake, Audrey, Brandon, Greyson, Nikki,Chad, Reece, Cameron, Chelsea, Cassie; great-grandchildren, Maddie and Jack Michael; niece, Staci (husband Stan) Martin and nephew, Scott Wingo; sister-in-law, Linda (husband Bud) Fagan; and several cousins.
Services to be held at J. Warren Funeral Services in Casa Grande, Arizona on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 3 p.m.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or
Shriner’s Hospital.
