Carter Lee Jones

SACATON - Carter Lee Jones, 69, of Sacaton died on Dec. 20, 2013, at Caring House.

Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the District 3 Service Center. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Santan Baptist Church, with the Rev. Aaron Johns officiating. Burial will be in East Sacaton Cemetery.

Mr. Jones was born on May 5, 1944, in Sacaton to Joseph Jones Sr. and Evelyn Wilson Jones. He attended Pima Central School in Sacaton, Coolidge High School and Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kan. He enlisted in the Army and served in Texas, Georgia and Alabama. He qualified as a marksman and as a firefighter with search and rescue.

He was a meter reader and installer for San Carlos Irrigation Project for 30 years before retiring in 1999. He also was a road maintenance employee in Sacaton but resigned due to health reasons. He enjoyed watching WWE wrestling and Clint Eastwood movies, working on word search puzzles, listening to oldies and going to movies. He visited many museums and recently followed the Coolidge High Bears football team. He also enjoyed sitting outdoors to enjoy sunny days.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Donna Kisto-Jones; a daughter, Caralee Jones-Rodriquez of Sacaton; a brother, Joseph Jones Jr. of Sacaton; and two sisters, Jeanell Jones of Gilbert and Deborah Stevens of Stotonic. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin and Edwin Jones, and a sister, Ethelyn Histia.
