CASA BLANCA — Cecil A. Rovie, 76, of Phoenix died on Aug. 14, 2010, at Maravilla Care Center in Phoenix.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the District 5 Service Center in Casa Blanca, with the wake continuing at 10 at the Schurz home in Sacaton. The graveside service will be at 6 a.m. Saturday in Snaketown Cemetery, with Imogene Jackson officiating.
Mr. Rovie was born on Aug. 17, 1933, in Komatke and was a son of Luke and Vivian Rovie. He was a steelworker and helped to build the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Chase Field. He loved the outdoors and animals. He had a sweet tooth, was known as a cowboy and raced cars at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix. He fixed anything he could.
Survivors include four daughters, Jolene Rovie of Guadalupe, Joyce L. Martinez of Phoenix, Collette Bustamante of California and Linda Andrews of Salt River; five sons, Clovis Rovie of Mesa, Cy Rovie of Salt River, Ezra Rovie of Mesa, Donald Apkaw and Joseph Galvez of Phoenix; four sisters, Delores Cawker, Arlean Rodriguez and Claudina Rovie, all of Laveen, and Marceline Walker of Phoenix; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; two sons, Kyle Rovie and Vincent Apkaw; a daughter, Denise Apodaca; and three brothers, Donald Rovie, Lawrence Ruby and Alfred Rovie.
