Cecila Candace "Candy" Walker

Cecilia Candace Walker, known to many as “Candy”, passed away peacefully February 1, 2021.She was born May 18, 1942 in Slaton, TX to the late Betty and R.G. “Gunter” Garland. As Gunter worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, Candy changed schools often, spending time in Chicago and California before graduating high school in King-man, AZ. After graduating from Arizona State University, she began teaching English. She met the love of her life, Glen L. Walker, after being set up with him on a blind date by her future sister-in-law, Norma Miller.After marrying, the two settled in Glen’s home-town, Coolidge, where they spent the next several years becoming part of the community and raising their two children, Glen G. and H. Hillary.Eventually, Candy returned to teaching and spent 12 years dedicated to the students of Coolidge High School as an English teacher.Candy loved to travel, was a proud sister of Chi Omega, and an active member of the PEO Organiza-tion. She was fiercely devoted to her family and will be dearly missed. Candy leaves behind her devoted husband, Dr. Glen L. Walker; son, Glen G. Walker; daughter, H. Hillary Jahr; sister, Margy Garland; and grandchildren, Walker, Kate, Ryan and Thomas.In light of the COVID pandemic, the family is choosing to postpone services until all those inter-ested in celebrating Candy’s life can safely gather.If you are interested in attending services once they have been scheduled, please send email to skeet@q.com and the family will make sure you are notified once a date has been set.
