FLORENCE - Charles "Charlie" Borquez, 75, of Mesa died on Oct. 29, 2015, at Springdale West in Mesa.
Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Assumption Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 9:30. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 by the Rev. Jose Maria Corvera. Burial will be in Florence Cemetery.
Mr. Borquez was born on Sept. 18, 1940, in Tucson and was a son of Carlos Borquez and Dora Celaya. He was a school security guard. He enjoyed watching football with his son, and they were diehard Cardinals fans. He also was a Florence Gophers fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, dancing and listening to music. He was kind and gentle with everyone and loved his Japanese pug, Charlie Chan.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy; two daughters, Ana Celaya of Phoenix and Lisa McManaman of Peoria; a son, Larry Borquez of Tolleson; two sisters, Mary Ellis Goldsmith and Lillian Fraiser of Florence; two brothers, Tommy Borquez of Mesa and Michael Borquez of Florence; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Borquez, and a sister, Frances Borquez.
