Charles K. "Chuck" Copeland

ARIZONA CITY - Charles K. "Chuck" Copeland Jr., 88, died on July 3, 2020, in Chandler.

Mr. Copeland was born to Charles K. and Ione Persyn Copeland on May 27, 1932, in Bent County, Colorado. He met and married his first wife, Reba, in 1953 while in California. They had four children. Reba died in 2011. He married Ruth I. Field in 2017. Pastor Ernie Smith told everyone they were the oldest couple he ever married.

He provided for his family by working in the La Verne, California, water plant most of his life. He was the manager of water for housing development. He was a proud veteran, displaying an American flag on his chest whenever he could. He was active in the Met Vets organization and in the Reserve for eight years. He served as a locator of shot-down fighter jets during World War II. He was a faithful member of Arizona City Evangelical Methodist Church. People said they recognized him when they heard "I can’t hear you."

Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, Ted and Kenneth. Survivors include his second wife and two sons, Gary and Kevin.

Small graveside service was held in Mountain View Cemetery on July 10.
