CASA GRANDE - Charley Hugh Kalm, 82, died in Casa Grande on Jan. 9, 2018.
Mr. Kalm was raised in a blended family, the only son of Archie S. Kalm and Lenora M. Parman. He was raised by his mother and her husband, Clarence L. Bell. His interests included working on cars and various vehicles, and that is how he made his living.
He enjoyed driving fast, inventing and tinkering with almost anything mechanical. He loved country music and dancing. He spoke only when necessary and didn't mince words.
In 1954 he married Dona Charlene Love, and they had three children, Christi L. Hankins, Carol D. Kalm and Mitchel C. Kalm; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In 1981 he married Betty L. Bain and helped raise her children, Brandy K. McIntyre, La Shonna R. Cheyne and Vanessa D. Grover. They had six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by stepsiblings Kayo Bell, Charles Bell, Effie Boudinier, Wanda Parks and Cecil Bell and half-siblings Myrna Kalm and Sterling Kalm. He is survived by half-siblings Elsie A. (Kalm) Glosson, Ada L. Nials, Judy R. Phillips, Kay L. Fuqua, Shirley J. Garrett and Frank D. Bell.
