ARIZONA CITY - Christine E. Zahm, 95, of Arizona City died July 3, 2009 at Casa Grande Regional Medical Center.
A private service will be held for the family.
Mrs. Zahm was born in Columbia, Mo. She was the youngest of eight children born to Edward and Isabell Alexander.
She moved to Arizona in 1947 from the Chicago area and with her husband bought the Eloy Enterprise. They owned and published the newspaper until 1965. In 1961, she moved to Arizona City, where she helped start several organizations, including the Arizona City Chamber of Commerce, ladies bridge groups and ladies golf groups. She loved to play bridge and golf. She also enjoyed reading newspapers everyday and watching all sports on television. She cheered on all the Arizona teams and was involved in the Arizona City Friends of the Library. Mrs. Zahm is survived by one daughter, Sandra S. Coleman of Arizona City; one son, Robert L. Taylor of San Diego, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, Donald A. Taylor; three husbands, Vince Taylor, Forrest Nelson and Ralph Zahm; five brothers; and two sisters.
