Claude Fred Henry, 86, born September 28, 1937, in Coweta, Oklahoma passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 31, 2024, in Casa Grande, Arizona. Claude was the son of Helen and Jess Henry. At just six months old, his family moved from Oklahoma, working in cotton fields in the Maricopa/Stansfield area before settling in Coolidge. Claude grew up alongside his siblings Harvey, Joanne, Flo Anne, Tommy, and Doug.
Claude married his devoted wife, Dolores (Dee) Spears, who stood by his side for 67 years, on November 1, 1957. Together, they built a family, including their children Brent, Vicki, and Claude. Known affectionately as “Pops”, he was a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 6 great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent together.
Claude had a dedicated career, working for the Mountain State Telephone Company and later Southwest Gas. He and Dolores also opened the Cattleman Shop, initially located on Central Avenue but later moved to Arizona Blvd. Claude was passionate about farming and enjoyed roping, flying, and fishing. He loved playing music and treasured time spent playing cards with friends.
Claude served as a volunteer firefighter and as a member of the Pinal/Coolidge Mounted Sheriff's Posse, where he once held the position of State Secretary. He was a faithful member of the Church of God.
Claude will be remembered for his stubbornness, humor, loving, and caring nature. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of kindness, humor, and love for old westerns will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents and his sister Joanne.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Claude's life at the Coolidge-Florence Elks Lodge located at 2241 N. Attaway Rd, Florence, AZ 85132 at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 12th.
