Claude Hughes Jr.

August 30, 1921 — August 30, 2018

Claude Hughes Jr. was born on August 30,
1921 in Blanchard, Oklahoma and passed away
on August 30, 2018 on his 97th birthday. His
parents and family moved to Arizona in 1936
and lived in a Cotton Camp south of Eloy.
Claude started farming in 1944, growing cotton
and running cattle in Eloy, Red Rock and Marana.
In 1983, Claude retired and he and his wife, Pauline, moved
to Show Low. They spent the summers fishing in the White
Mountains and the winters living and fishing at Roosevelt Lake.
Claude was an original charter member for the Casa Grande Elks
Lodge.
Claude was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Pauline
Utz; his sister, Delma Burns; two brothers, Kirby and JD Hughes;
his son, Richard Hughes; his daughter, Claudine Tucker; and a
granddaughter, Penny Garcia.
Claude is survived by his son, Danny Hughes; his grandkids,
Mike, Lisa, Mark, Todd, Tolly and Jeff; 16 great-grandkids and
18 great-great-grandkids.
Claude was one of the last old Western Cowboys.
Services will be held at J. Warren Funeral Home in Eloy,
Arizona followed by a graveside service at the Eloy Memorial
Park. Services will be held on September 5th at 9 am.
