Clydene Elizabeth Workman

November 21, 1931 — April 28, 2019

Clydene Elizabeth Workman stepped into Jesus' presence Sunday, April 28th, 2019. Clydene, the daughter of Orvis and Myrtle Harrison was born in Trickham, Texas on November 21, 1931. The family moved to Arizona while she was a young girl and she met and married the love of her life, Calvin Ray Workman, just one month shy of 71 years ago on May 31,1948.

They have five children, Raydene Corn (of Tucson), Judy Hoffman (& husband Jim of San Tan Valley), Calvin Workman (& wife Brenda of Mt. Pleasant, Texas), Vicky Ogden (& husband Robert of Ajo), and Clark Workman (& wife Jenn of Safford). They are blessed with 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Clydene's legacy of her love of the Lord and her family has blessed each member and her testimony to God's faithfulness lives on in each of their hearts and lives.

Clydene & Ray served their church and church members in Ajo faithfully wherever they were planted.

Clydene gave her all in everything that she did. A wife and mother for so many years, until the first three of her flock of five left the comfy nest she and Ray provided, she then began working and became an assistant dietitian & cook for New Cornelia Hospital. When Phelps Dodge shut down the copper mine and hospital she lost her job and she could have easily given up and gone back to being a loving housewife. But instead she went to computer training in Tucson then became manager of the Douglass Funeral Home and flower shop in Ajo where she served for 10 years. She loved ministering to people who had lost their loved ones! Ray had retired from the State, but in her winning way, she coaxed him into being her partner in conducting the funerals for their community. It was a role he dearly loved because it was a ministry for him as well!

Clydene is a woman of strength. She's a woman who exuded love and confidence. Her greatest love was family, second only to her love of God.

Ray & Clydene moved to Tucson to be closer to their medical healthcare providers in 2001. Their home on Christmas Place has welcomed family and friends over the years to enjoy the delightful Winterhaven lights. But the greatest light, the Light of the world, was present in the home 365 days a year.

Though her family grieves the lose of her physical presence, they shall forever treasure her legacy that lives on in their hearts and lives. It would be her prayer that the circle be unbroken and that each of her family members will join her in heaven for eternity when their journey on earth is through.

Philippians 4:13 was her favorite scripture. "I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me."

Psalm 4:8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.
