Consuelo Alicia Tarango (Chelo),
85, of Stanfield, passed away on
January 13, 2019. She was born in
Chihuahua, Chihuahua Mexico, to
Dionisio Castro and Eulalia Vasquez on
September 28, 1933. Consuelo grew up
in the company of her aunts and uncles
at the home of her beloved maternal grandmother and grandfather
where she, her siblings and mother spent most of their time. As a young
lady, she learned secretarial duties including shorthand, dictation and
office machines. She worked at a print shop along with two teenage
delivery boys. The boys were uncle and nephew to one another and
they introduced her to their older brother and uncle Eliseo, who was
visiting from Arizona. Consuelo and Eliseo were married in 1954 and
Eliseo brought her to live in Eloy, Arizona. After the birth of their
first child, they moved to Stanfield in 1955. They were married for 43
years until Eliseo passed away. Consuelo was a beloved custodian at
Stanfield Elementary. She retired from the school district after working
there for 25 years. She loved to cook for her children, grandkids and
great-grandkids, and she loved to engage in conversation. She enjoyed
annual trips to the beach with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She
loved waking up Christmas morning to her stocking filled with goodies.
She also loved going on trips to the casinos with her friends. She was
deeply loved by her daughters-in-law, by her sons-in-law, and numerous
nephews and nieces. She and her tamales, conversation and loving ways,
will forever be missed. Many knew her as "Abuela"; so therefore, rest in
peace, Abuela.
Consuelo is survived by her children: Guillermo (Elena) Tarango
of Kingman, Juan Tarango of Tempe, Patricia (J.T. Morris) Tarango
of Tempe, Marco (Christine) Tarango of Mesa and Melisa Tarango
of Stanfield; her siblings: Berta Ramirez of Mexico City, Mex., Teresa
Vasquez of Tijuana, Mex., Pablo Villagran of Chihuahua, Mex., Jose
Villagran of El Monte, Ca., Angel Villagran, Eulalia Cossio and Manuel
Villagran, all of Chihuahua, Mex.; nine grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eliseo Tarango;
her daughter, Guadalupe Tarango-Lowden; and her great-grandson,
Sammy Grieser.
